People Landlord: the owner of the property that is to be leased or rented to another person. When signing the lease, the landlord is also called the lessor Tenant: one who takes possession of an apartment or other rental until with the intent of living there; one who rents property. When signing a lease, the tenant is also called the lessee.
Things Sublet: to allow someone else to occupy your apartment and pay rent while you are bound by the terms of your lease Lease: a written agreement (contract) by which one party rents property to another at a certain price for a specified period of time Security deposit: a refundable amount of money paid in advance of renting to protect the owner against damage or nonpayment
