Google Earth is a virtual program which creates images of the earth and sky captured via satellite, aerial photography, and 3D imagery. Google Earth allows viewers to enter an address, a specific location (i.e. the Eiffel Tower), or simply navigate the map page, and view the actual image of their desired destination. Houses, cars, streets, trees, shadows, lakes, and more can all be seen from the program.

Through Google Earth you can view topographical features, such as the Grand Canyon or Mount Everest, in three dimensions instead of the usual two dimension portrayed on maps. Certain buildings and other structures, such as bridges, can also be viewed in 3D. There are also other modes available including Google Sky which allows viewers to see star patterns and astrological views, and Google Street View wherein viewers may look at buildings or other structures as if they were standing in the street.

The program is available for free for use on personal computers and upgraded versions of the software can be purchased or downloaded for commercial use (Google Earth Plus-- $20/year and Google Earth Pro--$400/yr).
