Warm up Name and define one of the behaviors of electromagnetic waves

Behaviors of Light TRANSMIT Light passes through an object ABSORB Light is absorbed or soaked up by an object REFRACT The path of a light wave changes directions as it hits light REFLECT Light bounces back as it strikes an object This is how we see colors!!!!

The Electromagnetic Spectrum The electromagnetic spectrum are the colored waves that make up visible light

Energy of Waves TIME

Energy of Waves

Energy of Light Waves

Light in the Ocean

Remember the way we see color! Light waves REFLECT off an object creating the image of color To see a color the light waves responsible must be present to reflect off an object Lower frequency, lower energy light waves are absorbed first Red, orange, and yellow only reach shallow depths Higher frequency, higher energy light waves can travel to greater depths In the deep ocean only blue, indigo, and violet light waves remain
