India!

Introduction My presentation is about India. I want to go there because there are a lot of things to see. There are a lot of things to do. I want to go here because it is different than other countries in Europe. It looks interesting and colourful especially the elephants!!

Where is it? 11,292 km from Fort William to Kolkata It would take 12 hours to fly from Scotland

Weather It can be hot in the Summer and very wet and humid around Winter and Autumn. I would like to go in the Summer!

Languages In the north of India they either speak Hindi or Urdu. In south India they speak Tamil, Kannada and Telugu. They speak many more languages. I would have to learn some words to speak to them.

Entertainment In India they have a lot of entertainment. They have : Belly dancing, singing, yoga and much, much more.

How many people live there? Over 1,00,000,000 people live in India! Sometimes it gets so crowded people have to travel on top of trains!

Where do the people live? The most people live in Mumbai and Dhelhi. The kind of houses they live in are flats, bungalows and houses. Poor people live in shanties or slums. I would like to stay in a hotel or apartment.

Scenery The Ganges river flows through India to Bangladesh. I would not like to take a boat trip because the river is full of rubbish and dead people! There are mountains and when you look down it is really beautiful. I want to climb up a mountain!

Tourist Attractions! A famous temple in India is called the Virupksha Temple it is gigantic! The Ajanta caves were cut around 2 BC. They were abandoned in 650 AD then it was rediscovered in 1819. The Taj Mahal was built in 1632 it was thought to have cost 32 million rupees

I would like to eat chicken pakora and dragonfruit. Food Indian food is very yummy. They eat all sorts of things like curry, rice and vegetables. Most Indian people are vegetarians because of religious beliefs. Many people are Hindu. I would like to eat chicken pakora and dragonfruit.

Clothing They wear clothes called a dupatta [scarf], lungi [kilt], sherwani [a wedding suit], turban [ mens headwear] , sari [dress], salwar kameez [traditional dress], and dhoti [dress for boys].

Animals Bengal Tigers live in long grass near river banks. Leopards can live in open spaces or forests. Purple frogs are very unusual! Giant turtles will be on land or in water. I would like to see a purple frog the most because it is very rare.
