Assessment Updates Bakersfield City School District Curriculum and Standards January 6, 2010

Meeting Objectives: We will outline the protocols for administration and analysis of the following assessments: –Fast Track Fluency Testing We will provide instructions for entering data results on Galileo.

Fast Track Fluency Testing Testing Rationale: The ultimate goal of reading is comprehension. Reading text fluently is highly supportive of attaining this goal. Teachers and students can use this assessment data to monitor and evaluate growth in reading rate, accuracy and prosody.

Materials for FT Fluency Each teacher will need: Stop Watch Student and Teacher copies of the following: Level 1; Teacher Selected Poems -or- Levels 2-5; Pre-Selected Fluency Cards (3 titles from each level)

Fast Track Fluency Rubric

Fast Track Fluency Chart by Grade Levels Teachers will utilize this chart to determine rate scores for FT fluency tests. Teachers should administer a fluency passage every 6 weeks to each student.

Fast Track Fluency Recording Sheet

Fast Track Fluency on Galileo Fast Track Fluency Assessments are on Galileo and will be scheduled for the remainder of the year. The fluency assessments can be accessed in the Fast Track Fluency Library. Just as with Pearson fluency assessments, they can be entered online or via scantron. Run the Item Analysis Report to view a summary of results.
