 Reason #1 - They create an experience when you walk into a store. Reread my opening paragraph and you’ll see what I mean. There’s no mistaking it; you know when you’re in a Starbucks. Not only is the service great inside, it's excellent at the drive-through as my friend and LinkedIn guru Bob McIntosh points out his post Want Great Customer Service, Go to Starbucks.  Reason #2 - The baristas and others who work here really seem to enjoy their jobs and I don’t think it’s because they’re hyped up on caffeine. I’m not familiar with Starbucks’ hiring process but the company knows what it wants in an employee and does a great job hiring the right people.  Reason #3 – Something that stands out about Starbucks is how easily recognizable its cups are. It’s amazing how many times you see them when you’re out and about. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the airport, at the mall, out for a walk in the park or anyplace else. That’s Starbucks’ advertising – me, you and everyone else walking around with a Starbucks in hand!  Reason #4 - Have you tried the Starbucks app? I think it’s one of the best apps available for your smart phone. You can put in your favorite drink so when you visit you hold the app up to the scanner and the barista knows exactly what you want. It has a store locator, which is great if you travel a lot like I do.  Reason #5 - But the smartest move Starbucks made with their app is the ability to load it with cash so you can pay by phone. It works just like having a gift card except you don’t need the gift card because you pay with the phone.

  1. A Place For Everyone  Many would agree that Starbucks serves up a high-quality brew that helps them power through the day. But coffee is far from being the only menu option. Stores today carry a small selection of food items and plenty of coffee-free beverages, making them more friendly to children and snack-seekers.  Customers also have the option to overindulge (a trenta macchiato with a donut on the side) or under-indulge (a skinny latte with a veggie snack box). If you’re meeting up with someone whose food preferences are unknown, Starbucks is a pretty safe bet for any palate.  2. Ambiance  At a price around $2.00 for a tall (small) cup of coffee, and upwards of $20.00 for the fanciest drink imaginable, you better believe that there’s more allure than just good coffee for the company to meet such widespread success at these not-so-competitive prices.  In addition to its variety of non-coffee beverages and on-the-go eats, Starbucks’ ambiance is a draw. By now, most customers pretty much know what to expect when they enter through the heavy glass door, small green letters hanging overhead on the building exterior. A Starbucks interior in Los Angeles won’t look too different from one in Tokyo — a rich warm color scheme, alternative music, organic-looking art, and baristas in green aprons. Everything about the interior of a Starbucks, from the warm aroma to the casual couches, screams “comfort”.  3. Consistently Convenient  Perhaps the reliability of the Starbucks experience is the key to winning over customers’ taste buds and loyalty. Baristas work quickly and keep long lines moving. Starbucks has even partnered with Square to make the future of the ordering process cashless (release date set for fall 2012). People often complain about Starbucks’ high prices, but is $2.50 really that outrageous for a decent cup of joe, free wifi, and a public environment in which to sit, work or mingle? Bottom line — when you walk into a Starbucks, you know what you’re getting yourself into, and as the numbers continue to prove, certainty is quite attractive
