UNDERSTANDING THE CREATION The Second Day Sky and Water Separated

Genesis 1:6-8 And God said, “Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water.” So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so. God called the expanse “sky”. And there was evening, and there was morning – the second day.

Today we will learn of Day 2 1. Heaven and Earth created in Day 1 2. Atmosphere (sky) separated from water in Day 2 3. Oceans and continents defined in Day 3

Three Heavens – An Explanation 3. Third Heaven: is where God and His angels dwell 2. Second Heaven: the “planetary heaven” – the Universe, stars, etc. 1. First Heaven: our atmosphere, clouds, and “firmament”

Creation with “Appearance of Age” Various Theories: 1. Geological Age Theory (evolution) 2. The Gap Theory (Genesis 1.1 to 1.2) 3. The Day-Age Theory (millions of years) 4. Appearance of Age Theory (age “built in”)

Essentials for Life on Earth Water – the Universal Solvent – H2O Earth – the “Blue Planet” Questioning – “Is there water on Mars?”

Quenching the thirsty Earth The “Rain Cycle” Requires: 1. The vast oceans 2. The sun 3. Earth’s rotation 4. Wind 5. Clouds 6. Dust in the atmosphere 7. A warm Earth 8. Evaporation 9. Condensation

Even Lightning Serves a Purpose 3 million volts, 40,000 degrees F., 140,000 miles per hour bolts Cloud – Cloud and Cloud – Earth Lightning Adds useful nitric acid to the soil Causes forest renewal

Just the Right Amounts! We need precision in so many things: Gravity, Temperature, Elements, Size of Oceans, Atmosphere (21% Oxygen and 78% Nitrogen), and the distance of the Sun to the Earth …..

A Summary 1. What was important about Day 2? 2. How many times do we read - “And God said” in the verses of Genesis? 3. What “Heaven” do we know the most about? 4. What is the “Appearance of Age” Theory, “Rain Cycle”, “Blue Planet”? 5. What is another names for “Cloud to Cloud” lightning?

Job 36:27-30 “He draws up the drops of water, which distill as rain to the streams; the clouds pour down their moisture and abundant showers fall on mankind. Who can understand how he spreads out the clouds, how he thunders from his pavilion? See how he scatters his lightning about him, bathing the depths of the sea.”

This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24
