The answer to this is very complicated, however, we cannot lie to ourselves because our brain is the main functioning to all parts of our body. So when you say you are not scared but you actually are your mind knows all. But on the other side…. I'll start exercising next week. I'll start doing my homework at the end of the month. I'll start making better decisions. Sound familiar? We all make promises to ourselves. And all too often, if we were really honest with ourselves, we'd see that these are promises we know we'll never keep. And that’s how we lie to ourselves. Let’s explain this in a simpler way. See the image on the next slide what do you see? I'll start exercising next week. I'll start doing my homework at the end of the month. I'll start making better decisions. Sound familiar? We all make promises to ourselves. And all too often, if we were really honest with ourselves, we'd see that these are promises we know we'll never keep. And that’s how we lie to ourselves. Let’s explain this in a simpler way. See the image on the next slide what do you see?

Illusion You might see this picture moving but in fact it is your mind that makes it move. Meaning you can lie to yourself without knowing.

Are truth and lies the same as right and wrong? Truth can be right sometimes Truth can be right sometimes If you are in a court would you tell the truth or a lie? If you are in a court would you tell the truth or a lie? If you told the truth you escape the consequences for a while but in the future you are in deeper trouble. If you told the truth you escape the consequences for a while but in the future you are in deeper trouble. If you told the truth you would still be in the consequences but smaller than lying. If you told the truth you would still be in the consequences but smaller than lying. Lies can be right sometimes Say if your friend asks you if you like their new toy? Would you lie and tell them that you like it? Therefore making them happy. Or would you tell the truth and tell them you hate it? Therefore making them angry.

Can you be truthful for dishonest reasons? You can be truthful for dishonest reasons. You can be truthful for dishonest reasons. For example you are claimed a witness for a bank robbery. You tell the court you saw it but you didn’t say that after that the robber gave the money back to the bank. For example you are claimed a witness for a bank robbery. You tell the court you saw it but you didn’t say that after that the robber gave the money back to the bank. Therefore you are being honest but you did not tell the whole truth making you truthfully dishonest. That’s why before you are allowed to speak in court you have to hold the Bible and say ‘I will tell the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth. Therefore you are being honest but you did not tell the whole truth making you truthfully dishonest. That’s why before you are allowed to speak in court you have to hold the Bible and say ‘I will tell the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth.

Is something only true if you can prove it? Not actually. Not actually. Let’s go with our religion. Let’s go with our religion. We can’t see or hear Jesus but we still believe he is by our side. We know it. We can’t see or hear Jesus but we still believe he is by our side. We know it. Therefore I believe it is all based on beliefs in a person. Therefore I believe it is all based on beliefs in a person.
