Search Techniques conduct a wild card search zoom down in a scrolling list box make multiple selections in a scrolling list box expand the search results list search using multiple criteria

Wild Card Search Wild card searches can be used in any text field

Wild Card Search Surround a known keyword with % signs. Examples 1.Child% finds values that start with “Child”. 2.%Project% finds values that contain “Project”. 3.%Manager finds values that end with “Manager”. 4.%Health%Manager% finds values that contain the words “Health” and “Manager” in that order, even though words or letters lie between them.

Zooming Down a Scrolling List Box You can scroll down a pick list to find your target value, but sometimes it’s faster to use your keyboard. To find the Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection on the pick list to the left, you would have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the list. A faster technique is to put (click) your cursor anywhere inside the list box… …then press the first letter of the value you are seeking. You will jump down the list to the first value that starts with that letter. Continuing to press that letter will scroll down one at a time through any other values that also start with that letter. “W”

Expand the Search Results List By default, search results lists display 12 lines at a time. To show (or print) an entire list, change the value in the “Display X Lines” field to equal the total number of “found” records… then click Refresh.

Search Using Multiple Criteria Adding more criteria to your search tightens the search and reduces the number of “found” records. Example Find clerical positions in the Ministry of Transportation that are doing contract administration
