Legend Of The Ninki-Nanka The Gambia Dragon

Greetings from The Gambia. We want to tell you about Ninki-Nanka

The Ninki-Nanka is a mythical creature That’s said to be found in the country of Gambia Some say it’s a dragon with a long scaly tail Some say it’s reptile as big as a whale

The Gambian fishermen look out in their boats For it’s horns can be seen when it rises and floats The name Ninki-Nanka is it’s Gambia name It means Dragon Devil For it’s wild not tame!

They say that this creature is a 100 years old To generations of children the story’s been told The people who’ve seen it say it has big green eyes But It stays under water to keep it disguised

It hides in the swamps and swims in the rivers Then if on land on its belly it slithers Some say that’s it’s real and some say it’s a myth Some say that it growls Some say it might hiss!

In 2006 some scientists from Britain Went over to Gambia On a search expedition! Their aim was to see if it’s true or a myth To find real proof that this dragon exists

They searched in the rivers and searched on the land They looked through the bushes and dug up the sand They searched on and on but no clues could be found Though the scientists think it may hide underground

So is there a dragon in this African country? Some say that there’s not Some think that there could be!
