Agenda Evolutionary Timelines Continue Nye/Ham Debate Remember Thursday/Friday Room 3011 with the counselors

Timelines Measure out 115cm of receipt paper This will represent the approximate 4.6 billion years Earth has been around (estimates are 4.54 billion billion) Scale your timeline appropriately from Today to 4.6 billion years ago – Figure out how much each CM represents and make a scale. Make a small mark every cm and larger mark every 10cm Today 4,600,000,000ya 1 BYA2 BYA3BYA

Timelines Google 10 important events throughout the history of Earth and map them on the timeline Try to pick events that are from throughout the history of life (think big!) Sketch them on the timeline (or print out small pictures to represent them) and place them approximately where they go In small words label what happened at that point Today 4,600,000,000ya 1 BYA2 BYA3BYA

Example 4,600,000,000ya Today First pokemon Charmander EvolvesCharmeleon Evolves 1 BYA2 BYA3BYA Charizard Evolves Gameboy Invented

Details Individual Minimum 10 events, spread throughout Earth’s history (NOT human history) – E.g. when certain groups evolved, major changes in Earth Due next Tuesday (only today in class)
