Understanding Time BC- Before Christ The years before the birth of Jesus AD – Anno Domini Current time period that starts at the birth of Jesus The current year is 2012 AD BCE – Before Common Era Equal to the BC years Julius Caesar died in the year 44 BCE CE- Common Era Equal to the AD years The current year is 2012 CE

Time Terminology

Types of scientist that help us understand history Archaeologist: a scientist who learn about early people by excavating and studying the traces of early settlements. An archaeologist will study artifacts (remains such as tools, jewelry, and other human made objects).

Anthropologist: study culture, or a peoples unique way of life.

Paleontologists: study fossils in order to see how people lived.

Task: Create a timeline of your life. Please list at least seven significant events that you would like to share with the class. Be sure to place the events in the correct chronological order.
