History Essential Question – Why study history? History – A record or story of past events.

History Studying history helps us understand people, societies and the connections between them. History helps us understand “change” and how the society we live in came to be. Only through history can understand the factors that cause change and how much things have changed.

History There are many different calendars used to keep up with the passage of time. The Chinese calendar is in the year The Jewish calendar is on the year The most commonly used calendar is the one we use called the Gregorian calendar. It is broken down into BC (Before Christ) and AD (Anno Domini) or BCE (Before Common Era) and CE (Common Era)

History- Timeline Example 1975 Date of Birth: Born on December 30 Eldrick T. Woods Place of Birth : Southern California Parents: Father - Earl Woods Mother: Kultida 1978 First TV appearance on the Mike Douglas Show where he played golf with Bob Hope 1994 Graduated from Western High School, California Attended Stanford University 1996 August: Drops out of Stanford University to become a Golf Professional in August.
