Adhesive Joining!!! By: Emyle Robertson

The Process An adhesive bonding is the process for making vehicle structures wherein a surface portion of an aluminum alloy body is anodized in an aqueous solution of hypophosphorous acid (H3PO2) to form an anodic oxide coating. A layer of adhesive is applied onto the surface portion and the adhesive coated anodized surface portion is joined to an adjacent metal structure.

It’s easy. All of the individual processes in the adhesive bonding operation must be carefully controlled. Simple equipment, visual examination, and common sense are the main tools

They are very useful Adhesive-bonded joints can withstand shear, tensile, and compressive stresses, but they do not exhibit good resistance against peeling. Adhesive-bonded joints can withstand shear, tensile, and compressive stresses, but they do not exhibit good resistance against peeling.

Detailed Process Surface preparation to allow wetting of the surface by the adhesive. The better an adhesive wets the surface, the better the bond.
