Ball Joints, Link Stabilizers, Bushings MOOG Box Content MOOG offers the components separately. In case of assemblies (e.g. wishbone-ball joint) the parts are already pre-mounted MOOG also offers a range of repair kits to ease the life of installers and distributors These kits include: Ball Joints, Link Stabilizers, Bushings All Hardware needed for the repair Removal / Installation instructions with torque values There are kits available for 16 popular vehicles including: Golf IV, Citroën C4, Opel Astra, Peugeot 307, Audi A3, Audi A4/A6, VW Passat Benefits of using a Moog Repair Kit Distributors: Less parts to stock / no risk of missing one part to complete the installation Easier to supply all parts to the installers Installers: Find and order 1 part instead of multiple units Helps the installer improve turnover Increases safety for the driver – all worn parts are replaced at once Improves vehicle steering / suspension performance Decreases potential vehicle down-time: the driver comes in for one repair instead of several Decreases repair costs for driver Data Classification: Internal

Wishbone Arm Suspension Sysem Tie rod end Bushing Pitman arm / idler Arm Wishbone arm Steering Box Centre - link/ Drag link Ball joint Wishbone arm Tie rod end adjusting sleeve

connected to steering and steers the car Steering Box Adjusting sleeve Pittman arm Idler arm Tie rod ends Center link Drag Link / Centre Rod (DL or DS) Centre connection bar for steering box linkages Fixed Steel Rod with ball joint Examples include centre connection between pitman and tie rod assemblies Idler arm mounted to vehicle frame holds center link and tie rod ends in position works together and facilitates movement of pitman arm Pitman arm connected to steering and steers the car Note: Parallelogram linkage: Pitman and Idler arm remain parallel System absorbs shocks and vibrations Tie Rod Ends (ES) Connection between axial joint and wheels (Knuckle joint) Turning pivot for wheels Tie rod assembly

Anti-Roll Bar bushes ensure link between stabilizer bar & the car body The anti-roll bar is a safety device which prevents the vehicle from rolling it absorbs shocks & noises it reduces vibration it ensures stable handling of the vehicle Data Classification: Internal

Components Connection between chassis and wheel Wishbone Arms (WP) Connection between chassis and wheel Stabilises wheel, reducing vibration and uncontrolled movements adding stability to steering Pressed steel or forged with ball joint and rubber bushings Trend to have them in aluminium (BMW) Components 1. Steel – forged 2. Steel – ball pin 3. Rubber – bushes

Part usually linked to the suspension arm Ball Joints (BJ) Part usually linked to the suspension arm Merged in the track control arm Fitted or pressed to the wishbone arm

Silentblocks (SB) Prupose of metal-rubber silentblocks: To absorb shock and tension between the body and the suspension arms

MacPherson Strut Suspension Inner Tie Rod End Axial Joint Bellows Rack & Pinion Steering Tie rod end Track control arm (lower) Ball joint

Centre take off - tie rod ends attach to centre of rack with bolts Rack & Pinion End take off - tie rods exit from the end of the steering rack via inner axial joints Centre take off - tie rod ends attach to centre of rack with bolts

Track Control Arms (TC) Connection between chassis and wheel Stabilises wheel, reducing vibration and uncontrolled movements adding stability to steering MOOG intent to supply all track control arms completed with bushing Front Axle Rear Axle Steel-Forged With connection to Suspension Steel-Forged Aluminum-Forged Aluminum-Forged Module in Alu

Connection between steering rack and tie rod end Axial Joints (AX) Connection between steering rack and tie rod end Transmit axial forces to tie rod end

Bellows/Gaiters (BK) Purpose of Bellows/Gaiters: to protect the linkage between the axial joint and the rack and pinion system from mud and water For conventional steering (Asian / American applications) In Europe used until the 1980’ies Some Luxury cars until 1990’ies SUV’s and the off-road vehicles until today Data Classification: Internal

Connection between main body and chassis Link Stabilizers (LS) Connection between main body and chassis Stabilizes wheel, reducing vibration and uncontrolled movements adding stability to steering Forged or lightweight composite material (resin material allows torsion)

Wheel End Bearings

Purpose Wheel End Bearings allow rotation of the wheels while supporting the weight of the vehicle. A WEB enables the wheel hub to rotate on the spindle or turn with an axle shaft, depending on the application. These bearings further enhance the Moog brand as being a complete provider of steering and suspension products These parts are included in the new MOOG LV catalogue – they have easily been incorporated into the existing catalogue format as the bearing was already shown within the schematic technical drawing Data Classification: Internal
