Personal Slab Box

What is a Personal Slab Box Personal-should tell the viewer something about the artist Slab-made from slabs Box-a container with a lid and handle

Our Project Make a personal slab box: Must have a functional lid Must have a handle on the lid Must tell the viewer something about the artist Must be atleast 5 inches tall

Step 1 – make walls Roll out slabs- should be even Cut desired shape/size – sides, top and bottom Set aside until leatherhard

2. Assemble Box Once leatherhard Slip, score and weld on walls together

3. Lid Decide on a design for the lid Engrave it on the box Use a cutting tool to follow the engraved line and slice off the lid

4. Lip Add a slab to the inside of the box following the cut line – This holds your lid on

5. Design Engrave things designs, add clay…anything to decorate your box The theme is you-so your decorations should tell about you Also Add Handle to lid

6. Underglaze Use underglaze to paint your box – Inside and out

7. Firing and Glazing Bisque fire Glaze – paint on two layers of clear glaze Glaze fire
