2 Shared Services Centre (SSC) at FAO  FAO conference approved the establishment of the Shared Services Centre in 2005 consolidation of administrative services into a stand-alone organizational entity provide administrative services as effectively and efficiently as possible – at low cost  Initially consolidated to three hubs in Budapest, Santiago and Bangkok  Phase implementation 2007 to 2009

5 Follow-up Plans for 2010  SSC coordination unit in Rome closed effective January 2010  Perform additional analysis of the Santiago and Bangkok hubs  Assess administrative services provided to Near East and Africa regions  Validate further savings that could be achieved by the consolidation into a global hub (estimated at USD 900,000 per year)

6 Members’ guidance  Finance Committee commented favourably on savings achieved to date and supported efforts to achieve further savings.  The Council stressed that any decision on closing the SSC hubs in Santiago and Bangkok should be transparent preceded by in-depth analysis include consultations with the Regional Conferences and Finance Committee  FAO will finalize the business case for one global SSC hub based on the in-depth analysis and consultation with all five Regional Conferences
