Fruit and vegetables Fruit and vegetables are low in energy and packed with vitamins, minerals, protective plant compounds and fibre, so they're a great source of nutrients and vital for a healthy diet.

Fruit A fruit is a part of a flowering plant that derives from specific tissues of the flower, mainly one or more ovaries. Humans and many animals have become dependent on fruits as a source of food.
