Kenojuak Ashevak Memorial Fund: Exploring a World of Possibilities An exceptional artist, pioneer and role model, Kenojuak Ashevak ( ) received many awards in recognition of her contribution to arts and culture in Canada. She was conscious of the significance of these opportunities and spoke often about the importance of encouraging future generations of Inuit artists. She was also a keen supporter of the Inuit Art Foundation and the Inuit Art Quarterly magazine. In early 2014, the Inuit Art Foundation launched the Kenojuak Ashevak Memorial Fund in honour of one of Canada’s most legendary artists. The fund will award $15,000 bi-annually, to an artist of Inuit heritage, which will assist the recipient to participate in an artistic residency of his or her choice.
