A for Military Ships August 2004

What is A? A is a system of: –tube assemblies –tube connectors –tube management closures –fibre bundles –fibre management closures –cable glands and cable ties –pigtails and patchcords –installation, calibration, verification and testing equipment

What do A networks offer for network operation, repair and maintenance? A offers: –Easy upgrade path for extension of the network or replacement of fibre bundle with no disruption to fire seals, cable runs, bulkheads and glands Fibre Bundles designed for maximum blow length, ease of handling and ruggedisation.

What do A networks offer for network design? A offers: –Flexibility –Ease of break and branch which allows blowing straight to panels and reduced numbers of panels –Point to point fibre with low loss budget –Designed to fit standard 19” rack configuration for all components –Reduced weight and space requirements

Specifically Designed Break & Branch Boxes and Splice Boxes for BAE Projects 24 way ST Connect Plate Tube Flexibility Box 500mm x 300mm x 140mm 350mm x 200mm x 52mm 48 way ST Connect Plate also available

What features of A tube assemblies are relevant? A tube assemblies offer: A submission for Naval Medicine Approval is in progress Sheath and primary tubes manufactured from a compound which is compliant to Specification Oxygen index37%, spec 29% min Temperature Index300°C, spec 250 °C min Toxicity Index, NES , spec 5 max Smoke Index, NES , spec 20 max

What features of A tube assemblies are relevant? A tube assemblies offer: –1,2,4,7,10,12,19, 24 LFZH tube bundles with or without glass reinforcement of sheath stripe colouring of sheathing is available for system identification 5/3.5mm primary tube size options which are suitable for 12 fibre bundle installation 8/5mm primary tube size options which are suitable for up to 18 fibre bundle installation and 3 x 12 multiple fibre bundle

What features of A fibre bundles are relevant? A fibre bundles will operate within all network protocols listed in the Statement of requirements: 2,4,8,12 fibre bundles fully qualified for operating temperature range of -40 °C to +60°C G652 and G652c options 50/125, OM2 Multimode fibre based on Infinicor /125, OM3 Multimode fibre based on Infinicor SX+ 62.5/125 OM1 Multimode fibre based on Infinicor 300 Hybrids of any combination of fibres within the bundle

What features of A fibre bundles are relevant? A fibre bundles can offer: –2,4,8 or 12 fibre bundles fully qualified for operating temperature range of -40 °C to +60°C G652 and G652c options 50/125, OM2 Multimode fibre based on Infinicor /125, OM3 Multimode fibre based on Infinicor SX+ 62.5/125 OM1 Multimode fibre based on Infinicor 300 Hybrids of any combination of fibres within the bundle

What features of A fibre and tube management are relevant? A, all components of the fibre and tube management system have –successfully undergone 70g shock testing in Rosyth Naval Dockyard in February 2004 with continuous data streaming during shock –space efficient and functional design –been deployed on Type 45 destroyer –pigtails and patchcords will be sheathed with the same material as tube assemblies.

Bend Radius of Tube Bundles

Installation and testing Verification, testing and calibration procedures have been developed to ensure installation is suitable Full training can be provided for performing the installation or alternatively a Certified Installer can be supplied
