Functions of Cell Organelles
1. nucleus - controls all cell activities 2. endoplasmic reticulum - (ER)network of passageways, carries materials within cell 3. golgi body - receives materials from ER, packages and sends the materials to other parts of the cell. Also releases materials to outside of cell.
4. cell membrane - forms a barrier between the cytoplasm and the environment. Controls what enters and leaves the cell. 5. vacuoles - store food, water, waste and other materials. Most plant cells have one large vacuole. 6. lysosomes - small organelles that digest food particles and worn-out cell parts.
7. mitochondria – produce the cell’s energy 8. cytoplasm – gel-like fluid in which the organelles are found 9. ribosomes – produce proteins. May be attached to ER. 10. chromosomes – the instructions for all cell activities
Summary Cell organelles each have… Organelles work together to… The chromosomes… Some differences between plant and animal cells include…
Plant Cell differences. Plant cells have a cell wall. (like our bones) Plant cells have one large vacuole. Plant cells have chloroplasts. (make their own food using sun)
