 A blog e-community, by definition, is a place where a group of people with loosely similar goals or interests connect and exchange information using web tools.  Many movements have become famous thanks to blog e-communities. Ex. Kony 2012, Anti- Globalization Movement, many “Go Green” movements,etc.  Some examples include…  Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Rattitude, Instagram,Tumblr, LiveJournal etc.

 Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg, who is now the CEO, and his college roommates.  As of September 2011, Facebook has over 80 million users.  Around 2/3 of businesses use facebook, 73% of businesses plan on increasing Facebook activity in the next 6 months.  47% of businesses said that Facebook increased traffic to their websites, and 48% of that traffic became paying customers.

 Demographic makeup by gender: 51.2% male, 48.8% female.  Demographic makeup by age: 26.1% 26-34, 25.8% 18-25, 20.6% 13-17, 14.9% 35-44, 8.0% 45-54, 4.6%  Facebook's Terms of Services require that users are 13 or older, but a recent survey concluded that 7.5 million users are under 13 and 5 million are under 10.  Facebook has been named the largest social networking site in  Facebook filed for an Initial Public Offering (I.P.O.) in February 2012, offering stock to the public.

 Jack Dorsey created “Twitter” in March 2006 and launched the program later that July.  Twitter has around 140 million active users.  The team had a slightly difficult time coming up with the name…  By definition Twitter means- to utter a succession of light chirping or tremulous sounds, as a bird; chirrup.  Tweets such as “I’m going to lunch” are known as Pointless Babbles and fall into their own category of tweet. About 40% of tweets are Pointless Babble tweets.  Twitter is composed of business promoters, celebrities, and people just like you and me.

 Instagram is an app. That allows people to share pics all around the world with friends and family. It allows you to make and share beautiful pictures as well as chat with people as well.  Instagram at first was made for only iPhones but as of Tuesday April 3 it allowed android phones to be apart of the fun as well.  Instagram development started in San Francisco and was launched for the world on October 6,  It was developed by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger.  On April 9, 2012 it was announced that Facebook would be acquiring Instagram independently and going to build and help it grow.  In April 2012 it was announced that there were over 30 million accounts of Instagram users and over 150 million photos uploaded.  When Instagram allowed android to use their service over I million more users were installed in less than 12 hours.  In less then a year Instagram won 6 awards for one of the best apps.

 Tumblr was created by David Karp and Marco Arment. However, Arment left the company to work for Instapaper so Karp became the CEO.  Tumblr was put out in 2007, and by two weeks the site had 75,000 members.  It is one of the smaller blogging websites, and the actual blog on Tumblr is called a “tumbleblog”.  Tumblr is most commonly used by teenagers or college students.  The site was funded first by Karp, and then by other companies, such as Union Square Ventures and Spark Capital.  People that you might know who use Tumblr: Zooey Deschanel, John Mayer, and Lady Gaga.

 These communities connect us with everyone across the entire world!  Businesses, news, celebrities, politicians, and just people who are local log on and are invited into a world of welcoming and loving followers, friends, and Mr. Bunner.  You can post anything you want.  Companies have become famous purely from internet popularity!
