Keynote Speakers Alison Robertson Alison is the program manager for the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers’ Association. The OFVGA is dedicated to the advancement of horticulture, working proactively through effective lobbying for the betterment of the industry and its producers as a whole through advocacy, research, education, and communication. It is the official representative for Ontario to national and international bodies. One of Alison’s roles is lead for the Northern School Fruit and Vegetable Program in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. This program provides 37,000 elementary students in Northern Ontario with 74,000 servings of fruits and vegetables per week throughout the school year.

Keynote Speakers Alison Robertson, cont’d Areas served by the program are the Greater Sudbury, Algoma, and Porcupine Health Unit regions, as well as communities along the James Bay Coast. Alison is also involved with the development and implementation of the Ontario Fresh from the Farm Healthy Fundraiser. This fundraiser offers students the opportunity to sell Ontario produce to raise funds for their schools. In 2015 the fundraiser is being offered to over 500 schools in 28 school boards. Alison is responsible for the procurement and distribution of fruits and vegetables for this program. Alison also sits on the Agriculture Canada Horticulture Value Chain Roundtable and is chair of the Horticulture for Health Working Group and the Consumer Focus Working Group. She is a member of the steering committee of the National Health Summit: Increasing Fruit and Vegetable Consumption for a Healthier Canada. She sits on the selection panel for the Premier’s Award for Agri-food Innovation Excellence and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Ontario Food Terminal.

Keynote Speakers Andrew Beynon, LLB A/Assistant Deputy Minister Andrew Beynon is a lawyer by training originally called to the bar in British Columbia. He is now the Director General in the Lands and Economic Development Sector of the Department of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development in Ottawa. He has more than two decades of experience working on Aboriginal issues, including as Canada's lead counsel for the negotiation of the Nisga'a Treaty. He has participated in the development of new legislation relevant to First Nations and has been a presenter at numerous Aboriginal Law Conferences. Andrew is married with two grown up children and in his spare time collects and restores vintage stereo equipment.
