Seminar-workshop “ Bringing back our home into life.” AUTHORS: Virgin Joy C. Bangelan Maria Elaine D. Pinay-an Abegail T. Tangalin

UNIT SUMMARY: The Philippines is rich in resources and it is often difficult to realize that we must take care if we are to maintain this advantage. This free “seminar workshop” enables to bring back our home to life, encouraging every individual, young or old, to do their part as a member of the society. The project includes film viewing, multi- media presentation, articles analysis, environmental friendly project proposals, tree planting and open forum. This stands for positive results on caring and preserving our own natural resources making every individual realize that there is no impossible if it is possible.

CFQ’s Essential Question : What is life? Unit Questions: How can we save our home from darkness? How can we give life to our home? Content Questions: How can we prevent floods and landslide ? How can we conserve our resources? How can we preserve our mother nature? What are the best ways in balancing nature? How can we protect the ecosystem?

PROJECT EXPECTATONS: The Seminar-Workshop is looking forward of today's generation to carry out their responsibilities in protecting our mother nature from devastation. Indeed our country is affluent with natural resources. However, we neglect and abuse it to satisfy our self-interest. At the end of this activity, the students as well as the clients will realize that it is high time to preserve and protect mother nature for the welfare of the next generation.

Students’ needs assessment: KNOWWONDERLEARN Our country is affluent with natural resources. Why are we experiencing shortage when it comes to economic aspect? It is true that we our country is rich with natural resources however people do not know how to develop it, they don’t give much attention to make it productive.

Students’ needs assessment: Many people are suffering from natural phenomena. Why are this natural phenomena happening? Due to our self- interest we are abusing our nature, one evidence of which is we cut many trees which absorbs rain water to prevent floods and landslide. This is one proof of imbalanced nature.

GOAL OF THE PROJECT: To give studded cues to remind the clients that preserving resources would always start in one’s own little ways. To give information on how to preserve and maintain resources for people’s own benefits. To mold clients be the echoes of their learning all through the seminar. To inflict in the minds the Do`s and Don'ts when it comes to protecting our environment.

GOAL for the STUDENTS: Students will develop a sense of responsibility in maintaining our resources. They will put their learning's into action. They will become an active promoter of a friendly environment.

FEEDBACKS: The project is very appropriate in the today’s situation. We need more activities and advocacies to make it more effective. The proposals are in a long process but the results are fulfilling. One of the most important factor to make it successful is the participation of each and every one of us. We find it very meaningful and very challenging.
