The 2003 National Survey of Children’s Health - Purpose To produce national and state-based estimates on the health and well-being of children, their families, and their communities

NSCH Design Features Independent random-digit-dial samples for all 50 states plus D.C. Screened households for children under 18 years of age One child under 18 years of age randomly selected as target of the interview

NSCH Design Features (cont) Respondent = parent or guardian most knowledgeable about health of child 79% mother, 17% father, 3% grandparent Interviews conducted in English and Spanish 5.9% of interviews completed in Spanish
