Windstroke

Concept Windstroke is a disorder characterized by sudden loss of consciousness with distortion of the face, dysphasia, hemiplegia. The chief etiological factor is the wind, fire and phlegm. The ZangFu organs involved are liver, heart, spleen and kendney. The pathogenesis is disorder of Yin and Yang, and deficiency of ZangFu organs and meridians and collaterals. Windstroke is seen in cerebral hemorrhage, cerebrovascular spasm, cerebral embolism, subarachaoid hemorrhage,and their sequelae as well.

Etiology and Pathogenesis The aged or overstrain, decline of vital qi Preference for alcohol and greasy food,improper diet Emotional stimulation Deficiency of qi and blood Yin deficiency and hyperactivity of Yang Accumulation of phlegm dampness Excess fire of the heart Attack of the exogenous wind Leading to flaring up of liver Yang Obstruction of the meridians Sudden rise of liver Yang Guiding liver wind to stir up Windstroke
