Significance of Political Parties In a democracy political parties present alternative political programmes before the electorate and seek the mandate of the people. As we see that the opposition party always act as the watchdog of the constitution.

Dr. Finer has mentioned that “without parties an electorate would either be impotent or destructive by embarking on impossible policies that would only week the political machine.”
