Geothermal: By: Sam Smith Cost Effective Reliable Sustainable Innovative

Main Idea Geo=Earth Thermos or Thermal=heat Types- Binary, Flash, Flash/Binary and Dry Steam Heat extracted from the earth, that originates from the formation of earth, radio active decay of minerals, and solar rays hitting the crust.

Binary Power Plants 1. Water in Geothermal well is pumped up into the heat exchanger, the water is then let back into the well. 1.A binary fluid (butane), which has a very low boiling point is put through the heat exchanger at 500 PSI and is then vaporized. 3. This vapor, exits through the turbine making it spin, creating electricity. Then the Vapor is captured and recycled. Able to be used in colder places then flash and dry steam plants Generates Typically 10 MW Average Cost of building a Binary Plant $33 Million

Dry Steam (flash) Power Plants 1.Steam is released from the ground. 2.Steam Turns the Turbine, creating electricity. 3.Water is then released back into the ground. Oldest known Geothermal use. Used by Caesar to warm his baths Typically used around Gysers

Flash/Binary Power Plants 1.When the geothermal fluid is pumped up it’s usually part liquid part steam 2.The Fluid is sent to the separator were the steam is sent straight to the turbine and the heated water is sent to the Vaporizer. 3.Where it is vaporized thus creating steam. 4.Then Everything is recycled once more Most Common Geothermal Power Plant

My Plan For New Hampshire Binary Geothermal Power Plant Budget for Construction $33 million Land- 250 acres, Amherst, NH, Industrial Land use. Central NH, $3 million.

Cons of other forms of Energy
