Background  Secretary P&D and his team visited AUP and acknowledged the University being a seat of knowledge and learning  Recent 8 th Amendment has brought along numerous challenges to the development scenario  Previous Development Models have mainly emphasized on quantity instead of sustainability and could not deliver the optimum objectives

Background  There is a need to provide solutions to shortcomings in previous development models  Formation of Think Tank comprising of University Faculty and Experts from Different Sectors is formed to come up with target oriented effective Development Models to Alleviate Poverty, Create Jobs and Sustainable Development in the Agriculture Sectors

Vision Statement for the Think Tank “Improved livelihood through the implementation of a well thought- out Sustainable Developmental Programs in Agriculture Sector”

Improved Livelihood & Quality of Life Geographical Based Projects Need Academia Government Bodies Private Sector Future Planning Perspectives Changing Climate Community Needs Changing Global Scenario Projects Stakeholders

Need for the Think Tank  Understanding the dynamics of Agricultural Sectors  Identify policy loopholes in planning and implementation in Agricultural Sectors  Identify major issues confronting farmers and other stakeholders in the country in general and in the province in particular  Suggest remedial measures for rehabilitation of agricultural sectors, improving performance based output and sustainable development of agriculture sector

Terms of Reference  To deliberate upon issues confronting agriculture sector including livestock and water management  To explore and debate successful models in various components of Agriculture sector  To come up with viable and integrated model/ guidelines, on which policy/programs and projects can be developed and implemented in agriculture sector through ADP of Govt. of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leading to accelerated economic growth and regional parity

Components of the Think Tank  Think Tank Shall Comprise Four Distinct Sub Sectors  Agriculture  Livestock  Water Management &  Policy Planning

Sub Sectors  Shall Study and Identify Major Issues Confronting the Sub Sector  Identify policy loopholes and suggest improvements  Plan Projects that are  Specific to the geographic location  Must have relevance and impact Long term, Medium Term, Short Term  Must be practical, implementable and sustainable
