Validation and Testing These 2 steps come together with the standard specification: it is about making sure that the standards do the right thing (Validation/Interop) and that they do it right (Conformance Testing) Many standards have an associated set of standardized test specifications In general, the SDO write tests – they do not perform tests themselves Usually Conformance or Interoperability tests are For use by industry development processes For 3rd party certification Scope, development and the review done by the SDO Working Groups

Certification: The 3GPP case Mobile terminal conformity is one of the key issues in the mobile industry 3GPP RAN5 (and GERAN3) are responsible for User Equipment conformance test specifications ( for all the layers including radio) For signalling and protocols, a task force TF160 under the 3GPP control, converts the test scenarios of RAN5 into Test suites in TTCN-3 language. Only these Test Scenarios and the related TTCN test cases produced are valid for the 3GPP UE certifications. The 3GPP RAN5 controls completely all that is provided to 3 rd party certification organizations. The test cases agreed by RAN5 are deployed in the UE certifications by GCF and PTCRB
