When you are looking for internet resources, you most often use: A. google B. other search engine C. librarian D. textbook links E. it’s a pain via any means so I don’t use the internet

“comfortable” and “familiar” easy to use extensive results but…. best resources often missed

Site Selection Many, many sites - often specialized, and not obviously targeted to classroom use. Need to be a polar expert to select best search terms These sites represent best cumulative pools and best starting points. List is not comprehensive Sites are broader in scope rather than specialized in content Many link to specialty data and information

Selection Criteria Accuracy Reliable, free from error Authority Author is known, credentials available, publisher is reputable Objectivity Information is free of bias, controversial statements represent both sides, no hidden agenda Currency Information is up-to-date, updates are identified Coverage topics are thoroughly and adequately covered; breadth of coverage is sufficient for website’s purpose

I would be most likely to incorporate polar science in which area? A. biomes and habitats B. energy C. weather and climate D. other

Let’s pause for two questions from the audience

I use the Internet most often for: Lesson Plan Ideas Student Research Personal STEM Learning Youtube, iTunes & recipes

Who knows when the next International Polar Day occurs? Do you know it’s topic? What can you do in your classroom to celebrate IPY or the Polar Days?
