“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Heb. 11:1 Substance Ground, basis, support ASV = “assurance” Of things hoped for Evidence Proof ASV = “conviction” Of things not seen “All that I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all that I have not seen.”

Things Unseen Things Hoped for HELL Heaven

God Created the World “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” v.3 Things Unseen Things Hoped for

Faith of Abel “By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.” v.4 Things Unseen Things Hoped for

Translation of Enoch “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.” v.5 Things Unseen Things Hoped for

Noah’s Faith “By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.” v.7 Things Unseen Things Hoped for

Abraham’s Faith “By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.” v.8 Things Unseen Things Hoped for

God Created the World “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Gen. 1:1  Not by reasoning  Not by dreaming about it  Not in answer to prayer From God’s Word

Abel came to conviction Not by his own reasoning By the revelation of God He heard God’s word and had conviction and confidence in what God revealed to him.

Enoch had conviction An unseen God – expected a reward Romans 10:17 NKJV “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” MNT “So faith comes from a message heard, and the message comes from the teaching of Christ.”

Noah built the ark He knew a flood was coming He expected to escape the flood God told him - Genesis 6:7 and He had conviction and confidence because of God’s word

Abraham went to a new place Gen. 12:1 “Now the LORD had said to Abram: "Get out of your country, From your family And from your father's house, To a land that I will show you.” His faith came by some revelation from God

How did your faith originate ? From God’s word. “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” John 5:24 “It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.” John 6:45

Was it through Faith Alone ?  Abel was counted righteous ?  Enoch was translated ? - “walked with God”  Noah and his family saved ?  Abraham went to a new country ?

Was it through Faith Alone ?  Now about our Faith !  How is it going to bring forgiveness of sins ? These all acted in harmony with God’s instructions

Was it through Faith Alone ?  Conviction that Jesus is the Christ  If we believe the Bible’s message we will follow it  We will act in harmony with our faith.  Our faith impels us to obedience It is not by Faith Only !!

We do not bring a lamb to the altar Present bodies a living sacrifice - Rom. 12:1 Like Enoch we are to walk with God We have started for a promised land
