Sound By Jacob Smith

Diegetic Sound Diegetic sound is sound that comes from the original scene, this can be things like actors voices or footsteps. Diegetic sound is in almost every scene because it allows the film to have a more natural feel rather than sounding always synthetic and rubbish.

Non-Diegetic Sound Non-Diegetic sound is sound that is placed into the scene in post. Filmmakers do this to give the film better continuity because if you put visual effects into the film you’re going to need sound to reinforce that its there.

Sound Bridge A sound bridge is where sound from one scene carries into the next so people know that the previous or next sound is still happening in the background, even though it may not be the main focus.

Sound Effects A sound effect is a form of Non-Diegetic sound, such as a woman being hit, the hit sound would be a sound effect.

Voiceover A voice over is like a narrator, it tells you what's happening or what has happened. E.g. David Attenborough
