Presentation transcript:

PURPOSE: Because prayer is a pathway to intimacy with our Heavenly Father and patience is one of the most important attributes a person can have, it’s VERY important to understand GOD’s view on both of these subjects.

HOW IT WORKS The format of these studies is as follows: Participants are asked to complete a pre-study questionairre in order to gain what their thoughts/beliefs are currently on the subject matter to be discussed. Each participant brings their completed question to the group discussion. The student begins and ends with prayer. Once the study begins, each participant, if they choose, shares their answer to question. Then the facilitator introduces a Scripture that addresses God’s answer to the question. Then each participant answers to the following two questions: 1.What does this verse or verses mean? 2.How should we apply these words to our lives? The study continues until all of the questions are addressed with Scripture.

OVERVIEW This study is composed of the following materials: 1.Participant Questionnaire 2.Participant Workbook 3.Leader Guide 4.Take Aways 1.Bookmarks 2.T-Shirt

OUTLINE SESSION #1:WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHY of prayer. SESSION #2: HOW to pray SESSION #3: PATIENCE

BOOKMARKS Each section has a bookmark. Click on the link for each section to view the bookmarks. Each Page is one side of the bookmark. High school students especially like bookmarks and almost anything to have as a take away. TAKE AWAYS PRAYER Bookmark – CLICK HERE PATIENCE Bookmark – CLICK HERE

T-SHIRT Each participant can receive a T-Shirt for participating in the study. This is an option that can be desired. We could do customized or offer a generic T-Shirt. Of course, we would need to discuss the logistics of offering such an option. Here are links to the artwork for each side of the t-shirt: TAKE AWAYS Patience and Prayer T-Shirt FRONT CLICK HERE TO VIEW Patience and Prayer T-Shirt BACK CLICK HERE TO VIEW

MISCELLANEOUS THOUGHTS The overall format of this is totally subject to change. The two concepts could be separated into two entirely different studies. This was designed to be for a weekend retreat. It could also be broken down into a longer term discussion. Individual question cards could be the format of the materials. One side with the question, the other side with the verse and “what’s your take” questions.

THE FRUIT After pouring my blood, sweat and tears into composing the curriculum for this retreat here are pictures of the retreat that show the result of the effort. CLICK HERE CLICK HERE to view the photographs of the retreat.
