Year 2: Post Exam SSA Group poster presentation Nick Ross

This SSA provides you with an opportunity - To explore a particular area from the Year 2 curriculum in greater depth To develop your skills as reflective learners as independent learners as collaborative learners as enquiry-based learners To produce and present a conference style poster

Step One

Working individually Identify one topic from this year’s core curriculum that you would like to explore in greater depth: looking at clinical application / integration across disciplines Prepare a very brief proposal identifying The topic and where it was covered in the curriculum The particular area(s) you want to explore / question(s) you want to ask Why you think this is an interesting / important subject to study

Step Two

Working in your M group (Academics will be sitting in) Listen to the proposal from each group member Select / amalgamate topics to identify 3 poster topics for your M group Everybody in the group must be able to sign up to 1 topic. No poster group should be smaller than 4 or bigger than 8 students Note on the form provided the 3 selected topics Each student to sign up to 1 topic (no swapping later)

Working in your Poster Group Discuss the subject and summarise the learning delivered in the core curriculum Identify the areas / questions for further exploration Formalise the rationale for selecting both the topic and the areas for further exploration Undertake the learning, taking note of your major sources of information Select the information you are going to present in the poster Design the poster and prepare the presentation

The School will pay the printing costs for these posters. PAGS is open from 14:00 to 17:00 and will not accept posters for printing after 17:00 on the 16th. Groups then have until Thursday 19th June to prepare to present and answer questions on their poster. On Thursday, each group of students will be required to present their poster, first to a group of their peers and then to two academics. Both peers and academics will provide feedback and score the poster against set criteria. All groups of students will therefore have two appointments on Thursday: one to present their own poster and the other to appraise a poster produced by another group.
