Dolphins Habitat Appearance Types of Dolphin Prey / Predators Sources of Information

Habitat Dolphins live in the seas, rivers and lakes around the world. They tend to stay close to the coasts, where there are lots of fish.

Appearance Dolphin skin feels smooth and rubbery. Blubber under the skin keeps the dolphin warm. They have blowholes on top of their heads to help them to breathe. Dolphins have up to 100 teeth.

Types of Dolphin Dolphins are mammals, not fish. There are 32 different kinds. Here are two: –Bottlenose Live off the east coast of North America. –Atlantic spotted These are very active dolphins, and leap frequently.

Prey / Predators The gray skin of a bottlenose dolphins helps it to hide from predators. They are good at protecting each other, so they are rarely eaten by other sea creatures. Dolphins mostly eat smaller sea creatures, like fish and squid.
