Presentation transcript:

mental What do I need to do mentally/intellectually today to accomplish my mission? (Is there a specific subject I need extra help in? How can I sharpen the saw on a weekly or monthly basis in the midst of my day-to- day obligations? What subject in school do I enjoy that I may want to spend extra time on? What are my hobbies? Is there some new skill or subject I may want to learn that is not touched on in school?)

PHysical What do I need to do physically today in order to accomplish my mission? (What extracurricular activities do I enjoy or do I want to learn more about? How much sleep do I need each night? What do I need to cut out in order to get that amount of sleep? How do I need to exercise each day or week to maintain physical health? How do I need to eat in order maintain physical health?)

Helpful hints “A mission statement is not something you write overnight. It takes deep introspection, careful analysis, thoughtful expression, and often many rewrites to produce it in final form. It may take you several weeks or even months before you feel really comfortable with it, before you feel it is a complete and concise expression of your innermost values and directions. Even then, you will want to review it regularly and make minor changes as the years bring additional insights or changing circumstances.” Stephen Covey, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Your homework Your homework is to write your personal mission statement. It does not need to be perfect, nor does it need to be the last one you will ever write. It is meant to be a catalyst to help you begin to think through your “end”, your mission. Take some time now to begin crafting answers to these questions. Your mission statement is due Friday, September 18 th, at the beginning of class and there are no length guidelines. Please make sure your review my “writing guidelines” on my webpage for more details on heading, spacing, etc.
