WELCOME TO CURRICULUM NIGHT!
What is Horticulture? This course provides instruction on the broad field of horticulture with emphasis on the scientific and technical knowledge for a career in horticulture. Topics in this course include plant growth and development, plant nutrition, media selection, basic plant identification, pest management, chemical disposal, customer relations, career opportunities, and leadership development. Skills in biology, chemistry, and algebra are reinforced in this course. Supervised Agricultural Experience programs and FFA leadership activities are integral components of the course and provide many opportunities for practical application of instructional competencies.

FFA Largest Youth Organization in the United States. Today, there are 523,309 FFA members, aged 12-21, in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Founded in 1928 Your child may be a part of this program by paying $20 dues for national, state and local dues. (See FFA HW)
SAE Student designed project which will consist of 15 or 30 hours of work outside of the agriculture classroom. Your child should be talking with you now about their project because they have their Hort I proposal February 8, and I have not received many of these There are examples on your tables.
Classroom Students will be: – Working in the classroom learning Botany, Agronomy, Floriculture, and other divisions of Horticulture – In the greenhouse learning to grow vegetables, transplant, sexual and asexual propagation, etc.
On Plant ID Quizzes Plant ID Extra Credit Project! (will help a lot with Plant ID grades where most need help!)
