SUCCESSION and FOREST FIRES Forests have ages and are different at different ages. One way the differences are seen is in the way forests burn.

FOREST AGES AND FOREST FIRES You will see a sequence of slides in pairs. The first picture will show a forest unburned, and then it will show the forest burning. Observe the age and stage of the forest carefully in the first slide. In the next slide, watch the details of how the forest burns. Chart your observations and be prepared to answer questions at the end of the slides.

FORESTS and FOREST FIRES Our National Forests have many purposes, but they are frequently managed for lumber. That means our National Forests have different ages. Please advise the Forest Service about what fire dangers they will find in different locations. Write a 1-3 paragraph essay about succession and forest fires.
