Grammar Bellringer #33 Complex & Compound- Complex Sentences

Notes Complex Sentence- contains one independent clause and one or more dependent clauses. Ex. When he handed in his homework he forgot to give the teacher the last page although it was in his backpack. Ex. The employees are worried since they have a meeting tomorrow.

Notes Compound- Complex Sentence- contains two or more independent clauses and 1 dependent clause. Ex. Considering that he handed in his homework he forgot to give the teacher the last page she allowed him to turn it in later. Ex. The students are studying because they have a test tomorrow and it will prepare them for the exam.

Label each of the following as a Complex (CX) or Compound- Complex Sentence (CDCX). Add a comma if needed after a dependent clause that begins the sentence. 1.__ All of the students in my Biology class are worried considering that we have a quiz tomorrow as long as we have school. 2.__ Because the movie ended early we went home to do our chores and our parents were proud of us. 3.__ Many of my small dogs stay outside during the day whenever they began to shed too much. 4.__ When my mother handed me the paper I was excited to see the results after I took the medical test.
