Romans 13:1-2 (New International Version) 1 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

Parishes The word parish makes Louisiana unique. A parish is area of Louisiana which has several communities. In all other states an area which has several communities is called a county. The word Parish comes from the Catholic Church.
