 Born in Wisconsin in  Second of seven children.  Received art lessons at home.  Moved to Virginia at age 15.

 Studied at the Institute of Chicago ( ).  Studied at the Art Students League in New York ( ).  Her artwork was called imitative realism.  Taught art in 1915.
