Born in Wisconsin in Second of seven children. Received art lessons at home. Moved to Virginia at age 15.
Studied at the Institute of Chicago ( ). Studied at the Art Students League in New York ( ). Her artwork was called imitative realism. Taught art in 1915.

Met Alfred Stieglitz in 1908 at his art gallery. He first exhibited 10 of her drawings in Alfred was 23 years older than Georgia. Married Alfred in 1924.
Visited New Mexico in 1929 and loved it. Vacationed there every summer until Alfred died in Moved to New Mexico in Failing eyesight forced her to stop painting. Lived there until her death in 1986.
