Association for Educational Assessment - Europe Purpose Activities Membership

General Goals Platform for discussion of developments in educational assessment in Europe Fostering co-operation and facilitating liaison between organisations and persons active in educational assessment across the whole of Europe. AEA-Europe defines educational assessment in its broadest sense including academic, professional and vocational contexts and is equally concerned with both assessment processes and products.

Aims of AEA-Europe Improve communication among European organisations and institutions through sharing of professional expertise, exchange of knowledge and collaboration between members through conferences and publications; provide a framework within which co-operation can be undertaken; foster and enhance collaborative networks and projects across the whole of Europe; co-operate with other agencies support improvement of assessment processes and products and their appropriate use throughout Europe; and enhance awareness of assessment processes and products in relation to their impact on learning and understanding.

Professional development New Assessment Researcher Award Accreditation of Assessment Professionals

Award for AEA-Europe New Assessment Researcher The award is meant for new researchers in the assessment area The award will be made annually It consists of:  being named as an AEA-Europe Award winner, and receiving a certificate to this effect;  receiving 500 Euros  the opportunity to make a keynote presentation to the AEA-Europe Annual Conference. In addition, a written version of the presentation would be submitted for consideration as a publication in Assessment in Education.

Criteria and Nomination All members can make nominations Nominations for the 2007 Award have been made. For 2008, should be made to the Secretary of AEA-Europe by 28 February Full details of nomination procedures and eligibility criteria are on the AEA-Europe website.

An Accreditation Scheme in Assessment run by AEA-Europe Three levels of accreditation to AEA- Europe: Fellows, Practitioners, and Associates Two routes: Assessment Associates and Teacher Associates Assessment Associates would generally be working professionally in assessment, in universities, examination boards, development agencies or publishers

Levels of Accreditation Associates: Working in assessment (or teaching) but new to the area Practitioners: Range of experience, written on assessment, work independently, some responsibility Fellows: Range of experience, specialist in some areas, supported professional development, made an important contribution to assessment nationally or internationally
