Shuangchun Coastal Ecological park A mangrove is a plant of plant gathering which grows in areas between the sea and the land, which are inundated by tides. It can be either a tree or a shrub or palm. All share the ability to live in salt water. Mangroves have long functioned as a storehouse of materials providing food, medicines, shelter and tools for animals.Fish, crabs, shellfish, prawns, edible snakes and worms can be found in the areas with mangroves. The fruit of certain species of mangrove can actually be eaten. Apparently, the best honey is said to come from mangroves, particularly the river mangrove.

 Mangroves can be easily found along the western seashore of Taiwan. Due to the development of industry and fish-farm, many mangroves have vanished from other parts of Taiwan. To ensure their survival, some costal locations in Taiwan have been preserved, which is located on the northern coast of Tainan city. The Shuangchun Coastal Ecology Park was established as a comprehensive ecological and recreational area in In the park, mangrove observation sites have been created on both the north and south sides of the main course in front of some windbreak woods.

 Sturdy boardwalks lead people into a mangrove community, consisting of four kinds of scare local mangroves. Crabs and mudskippers can easily be seen at a short distance on the wetland.  In addition to the mangrove area, visitors can play on a beach or enjoy barbecue in the designated BBQ area. While there, you can rest and enjoy the natural scenery of mangroves nearby. Just as you exit the park, if you want to try a local specialty of Tainan city, you may want to taste milkfish balls. These milkfish balls are conveniently sold at a shop just in front of the park.
