INTEL TEACH GETTING STRATED COURSE TRAINING OF MASTER TRAINERS By: Heidi Grace L. Borabo Faculty Member, CEU-SELAMS CENTRO ESCOLAR UNIVERSITY MENDIOLA, MANILA OCTOBER 26 – 29, 2010 ACTION PLAN

Resources Time Line Challenges and Solutions Instructional Tasks Instructional Strategies Short Term Goals Long Term Goals Conclusions

LONG TERM GOAL Developing, implementing and evaluating 21 st Century Skills

SHORT TERM GOALS Discuss with the education students the 21 st Century Skills. Post different classroom situations in which students can brainstorm. Employ more collaboration techniques in presenting lessons Adopt different techniques in classroom activities

INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES I will provide games related to the topic. This could be done before, during or after the presentation of the lesson. I will encourage a more inquiry-based learning environment. I will try-out varied cooperative learning strategies to encourage collaborative learning.

INSTRUCTIONAL TASKS Allow students to design and present games or topics for areas of discussion. At the beginning of the lesson, students will accomplish a KWL Chart to discuss the things they want to learn more about. Students will employ the Plan- Do-Review-Share (PDRS) strategy in cooperative learnings.

CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS CHALLENGESSOLUTIONS Students will be unfamiliar in dealing with the behavior of their future students and thus produce very shallow answers. Ask them to think of a relative or of themselves when they were in their elementary or high school and think of a way of how they want their teachers to treat them. Students would not want to ask questions even if they have questions on their minds. At the beginning of the lesson, assign the students to prepare on question as the lesson progresses. At the end of the period, they will ask the question. The teacher or a fellow student may answer. It might be difficult to employ small group activities if the class is quite large in size. The teacher could assign leaders for each group. He/She will be in-charge of the discipline, delegation of work and output of their group.

TIME LINE C.Y Nov. Dec. Jan. Feb. Mar. Discuss the 21 st Century Skills to the student teachers using technology-based materials. Create classroom situations where students can employ the strategies learned during discussions, particularly when the Classroom Management topic is introduced. Introduction of the Stages of Change and ask students to identify ways of accepting change. Employing, applying the 21 st century Skills during demonstration lessons. Continuous integration of technology and cooperative learning by teacher and students.

CONCLUSIONS With the help of Intel Education, teachers who attended the seminar, were given an advantage. Through the help of this action plan, we have clearly defined our goals. If carried out, much benefit will be given to both teachers and students and as a result, increased effectiveness in the teaching-learning process.
