5 Carbon Monoxide Alarms Any building that uses, or has the presence of Hydrocarbon fuels should have a CO alarm installed. However you must be aware that alarms manufactured and sold under the UL 2034 may not provide enough protection of individuals with health problems. You may need a low level alarm. 14 UL2034 Effects The most significant update to the UL 2034 listing in October, 1998 was the addition in the instructions stating that individuals with medical problems may consider using a device that provides an audible and visual warning signal for carbon monoxide concentrations under 30ppm.
