TEXTURE Advanced Drawing

Types of Texture Hatching Cross Hatching Stippling

Hatching A Group of Parallel Lines

Cross Hatching Use of hatching in two or more different directions to create a darker tone.

Stippling Different shapes and sizes of dots that help produce tone, texture, or shading.

Other Ways to Create Texture Blending and Shading  Many ways to create texture by using blending and shading. First, you can use a Smudger (or the correct term, Tortillon).  Second, you could use tissue paper or regular paper to create a different texture.  Lastly, you could use your finger tip.

Examples Leonardo Da Vinci Self Portrait

Example

Project Sea Shell  We will be concentrating on texture and shading. Remember what you did on Friday with the shading of the boxes.  Draw big! The bigger you draw, the easier it is to work with detail!
