Parades and marches denouncing immigrants, Catholics, Jews, blacks and organized labor. A group including many former Confederate veterans founded the first branch of the Ku Klux Klan as a social club in Pulaski, Tennessee, in By 1870, the Ku Klux Klan had branches in nearly every southern state Local Klan members–often wearing masks and dressed in the organization's signature long white robes and hoods In 1915, white Protestant nativists organized a revival of the Ku Klux Klan near Atlanta, Georgia More than 40 different Klan groups exist, many having multiple chapters, or “klaverns,” with a combined strength of members and associates that may total around 5,000.

King was assassinated on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee

Martin Luther King Jr. made a speech called “I Have A Dream.” It was delivered on August 28 th “I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.”

The American Indian Movement is a Native American organization established in the United States. Due to the diversity in North America, Native American's or Indians are too often forgotten. This movement was launched in 1969 in Minneapolis, MN. Dennis Banks, Clyde Bellecourt, Eddie Benton Banai, and George Mitchell started this movement. Rights wanted: economic independence, revitalization of traditional culture, protection of legal rights, and, most especially, autonomy over tribal areas and the restoration of lands that they believed had been illegally seized

Today, there are several reservations, and Indians are eligible to receive government funds to built homes, schools, and maintain their community. Abuse and prejudice against the Indians has decreased and there are also programs in place to help Native Americans immerse themselves in American culture.

The New Jersey Law Against Discrimination (LAD) makes it unlawful to subject people to differential treatment based on race, creed, color, national origin, nationality, ancestry, age, sex (including pregnancy), familial status, marital status, domestic partnership or civil union status, affectional or sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, atypical hereditary cellular or blood trait, genetic information, liability for military service, and mental or physical disability, perceived disability, and AIDS and HIV status.

The LAD prohibits unlawful discrimination in employment, housing, places of public accommodation, credit and business contracts. Not all of the foregoing prohibited bases for discrimination are protected in all of these areas of activity. Failure to obey these laws can result in a $1 million lawsuit
