We actively work to meet the needs of students and to enhance the quality of campus life. We do this through hosting a variety of programs and funding student organizations. Betty Garris Betty Garris has been at UNF since 1983, except for a two year period when she worked at Mayo Clinic in Graduate Medical Education. All three of her children are UNF graduates and two of her ten grandchildren currently attend UNF. Betty’s business background also includes working in the insurance industry, the banking industry commercial loans, and twenty-six cumulative years at UNF. Betty’s UNF work experience includes the College of Education, Administration and Finance, the President’s Office, University Police Department, UNF Housing, Student Affairs VP Office, and Student Government. Betty’s late husband, Martin P. Garris was the UNF Chief of Police for 20 years and because of his dedication to justice and participation in the civil rights movement, the UNF Police Department building bears his name. Betty’s interests are spending time with her grandchildren, reading, music, and watching British Murder Mysteries.
