EASTERN KENTUCKY A family oriented location

Traditions ◦ Traditions is one way people in EKY help to keep the bond as a family strong ◦ A personal tradition my family does, occurs on Sunday morning and continues to the afternoon. Every Sunday we gather to go have services at our local church. Sharing religion is something special to my family, it is something we have in common and enjoy sharing with one another. This shared tradition we do together every Sunday keeps us close and makes our bond stronger ◦ After church, we plan a location to meet to have lunch together. Typically one member in the family cooks a meal once we get home after church. We have different meals each time, based on someone's request.

How we start our Sunday This is my grandparents, my sister, and I before we went to Church This is the church we attend. Main street Church of Christ. Located in Pikeville, KY.

Different foods we have at dinner This is buffalo and barbecue chicken with mac and cheese and augrotten potatoes Our favorite dessert. Peanut butter fudge Chicken pot pie This dish is everyone's favorite. This is cheese and bacon stuffed chicken, with dressing and cheesy potatoes

Outdoor Activities ◦ Cookouts and camping goes hand to hand. These things are popular among Eastern Kentuckians. It is a time to enjoy the outdoors and the beauty of our Appalachia Mountains ◦ Cookouts occur frequently during camping since you are outside. Everyone gathers around the grill to barbecue favorite foods. If your family is as large as mine cooking a meal for everyone isn't a simple task ◦ Everyone contributes in some way to help one another

More outdoor activites ◦ Camping is something me and my family love to do when spending time together ◦ Camping is time away from televisions, internet, and phone. Being away from the distraction of social media allows quality time with one another. Some situations you are put in during camping (putting up a tent) you must work together as a team with your family ◦ Camping near a lake is one of our favorite places to be. There you have a place to cool off and enjoy the natural beauty of Appalachia with one another

Vacations ◦ Something me and my family love to do together is go on vacations ◦ Our favorite place to visit every year is Tennessee. There are tons of activities we love to do in Tennessee. ◦ We have a cabin we rent every year in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. When we are there mainly we focus on spending time with each other, so most of the time we stay in the cabin watching movies and playing card games ◦ We like doing outdoor activities there also. Most of the time we take a hike in the Smokey Mountains named "Cades Cove" Which is a beautiful location that has plenty of interesting things to view. ◦ This image is the sign that greets you before taking your trail

A look in our cabin These are the stairs leading to the second floor where there is a pool table. This is my sister and I outside on the porch of our cabin. This is the kitchen area of our cabin where meals are prepared. This is the living room area of our cabin where a Tv and fireplace is displayed.

Conclusion ◦ These are all examples of how me and my Eastern Kentucky family remain close. Family is important to me as well as many Eastern Kentucky people. To us family is everything. Living in such a beautiful, close knitted region the activities and opportunities with one another are endless.
